Hey guys! I was looking around for knitting-related LJ comms, and when I saw this one I thought it was just what I was looking for! I'm a first year Master's student at Ball State University, majoring in secondary education and going for my teaching license. Lookin' to be a French teacher when all's said and done, maybe even go as far as PhD.
I'm still pretty new to knitting; I have no idea how long ago I started, probably a year ago at most. My grandma taught me how to crochet 2 and a half years ago, and I've been addicted to yarncraft ever since. My current specifically knit projects are a pink-n-black striped bed for my cat, and a rather interesting scarf.
I actually really wanna go into a little more detail on this scarf: has anybody heard of NaNoWriMo? November is National Novel Writing Month, where participants are challenged to write a 50,000 word story within the 30 days of November. I signed up this year, got a story goin', but didn't get very far at all; I kept knitting a scarf when I should have been writing. After a few days I thought to myself "hey, why not do something productive with this instead?" So NaScaKniMo, National Scarf Knitting Month, was born. I've given myself the remainder of November to knit a scarf of 50,000 stitches; so far I'm at 12,000, and if I keep doing 2,000 a day I'm on track to finish with a few days to spare. I'm fairly certain I'm not nearly cool enough to be the first person to have thought of this--has anybody else done somethin' like this before?
Anyway, lovely to meet you all and I hope we'll be good friends!
